Who ever thought of taking random sound clips from one's own life, recorded on a cassette tape recorder or a camcorder, and then sampling them to a melody and beat? That is what Ashtown is all about. Journal Entries, appropriately titled, is a selection of downbeat electronic songs with added "random life" samples. Some are from high school parties, others are from life events, others are from random samples recorded in the studio. However it was recorded, each sample represents a meaningful life event. Each date preceding the song signifies the date at which the sample or song was recorded. Thus Ashtown's Journal Entries are a journal of sounds and melodies from the life of Ashtown. -James Ash |
